What eligible beneficiaries can receive
PM-JAY provides a health cover of up to ₹5 lakh per eligible family per year for specified secondary and tertiary hospitalisation at empanelled facilities.
Cashless treatment is available only for eligible beneficiaries and approved health-benefit packages.
Benefits are portable: an eligible beneficiary may seek cashless treatment at an empanelled hospital across India.
Published scheme guidance includes pre-existing conditions from day one for eligible beneficiaries.
Coverage and admission conditions
Coverage is package-based and must be approved under the scheme. The hospital team verifies the beneficiary record and treatment requirement before processing admission.
General ward accommodation is covered where applicable; choosing a room upgrade can affect scheme coverage.
Outpatient care, cosmetic treatment, fertility treatment, organ transplantation and drug rehabilitation are listed as exclusions in NHA’s published FAQ.
